Chiropractic Changed My Life

Elkhorn Chiropractor, Dr. Kurt Kelley

I couldn’t even move! It all started like this: Hurrying through a shower to get to a final exam, I just turned my head to sneeze, and POW, like being stabbed in the back! A “disc” injury…Twenty three years old and afraid I’d never walk normally again!

I loved the relief I got from chiropractic adjustments! Learning what chiropractic does to move me toward Health and Wellness has changed my life!! Dr. Kurt Kelley

It only took twelve years for me to get the courage to become a chiropractor! The first two chiropractors I saw produced nearly miraculous results, helping me cope with the stresses of traveling around Wyoming when I worked for the WY Game and Fish Dept. Then while at Cabela’s in Sidney, NE for 12 years I learned so much from Dr. Howard Brown that I knew I had to be part of this profession. The natural approach to health he showed me really does work. Soon my troubles with stress and digestive problems resolved. I realized I needed to help others, and though the decision was hard, I had to make the career change.

Starting a New Career in Chiropractic

I chose Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA (DC ’05) for the philosophy, tradition (where Chiropractic was founded), and excellence in academics. Honestly, I was shocked at the challenging course content and volume. I believe my education in Anatomy and Physiology is on par with the finest Medical schools in the world.

The Philosophy: why Chiropractic is distinct in healthcare in that we actually work to improve the function of the body, and not simply treat symptoms, created cathartic change for me. Understanding the Health and Wellness Paradigm instead of the Sickness and Disease model all paths follow has made all the difference. My studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (BA’89 Natural Resources/Wildlife management) prepared me well for the sciences at Palmer.

A Chiropractic Family

Dr. Kelley and his wife, Tami, have two sons, Zachary, who is married to Kaylyn since 2017, and Isaac and a grandson named Cash and granddaughter named Quinn.  When he is not adjusting people back to optimal health, Dr. Kelley can be found hunting with his sons, walking and running with his German Wirehair Pointer named Rain, and spending time with family and friends. On weekends the family worships at Relevant Community Church in Elkhorn.

Dr. Kelley is a Chiropractor Who “Walks the Walk”

I get adjusted at least twice a month. I have made thorough study of human nutritional requirements and have lost 43 pounds since August 2010 following the Ideal Protein Diet protocol. I understand what is genetically required to express health, and my family and I have made changes to our eating and exercise habits. It’s a process, and we’re moving the right direction. Exercise is a vital part of our families health, and we work hard at having fun too! We do not take an excessive amount of “supplements” believing that there are a few glaring deficiencies in the modern diet, which is full of pro-inflammatory elements that should be avoided. We have a healthy respect for the role of medicine, and Medical Doctors, realizing, that if the house is on fire, we call the fire department.

Enough about me! I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we can help you with today’s safe and natural chiropractic care.
